I have dug into my extensive vintage sewing pattern collection and come up with a new twist for my tote bags.

The pattern images marry so well with vintage feedsacks and vintage tablecloth fabrics :->

I've got several of these ready to go and they are in my etsy shop right now.

You can tell from my fabric choices on this bag that I'm ready for spring.

I'm all pumped up to make more of these beauties but now my steam press is on the fritz :-<

My steam press is an essential piece of equipment so off to the shop it goes.  I hope it can be repaired because I love my steam press.  I can get a new one I know, but I love mine and of course they don't make that model any more.

This bag is in my etsy shop along with the dress form displays that I've been making.  Love them and they are fun to make.

 

Holding My Breath

Winter is not my season.  I feel like I am just holding my breath, waiting for those warmer spring evenings.  Winter for me is usually just January and February, but this past December felt like I was going to pass out.  So cold, and then that white stuff over Christmas. 

While I am turning blue holding my breath,  my creative inspirations are all hot weather and flip flops.  The moment that calendar turns over to the new year it is full on spring time in my head.

This event is coming up in Williamsburg, just down the road from Hampton where I live.

I was asked to contribute a creation for the silent auction.  Do you think they meant moi when they referred to celebrity contributions ??

I thought it was only appropriate to make a cute doggie tote.

All this to benefit the Morris Animal Foundation so I hope my little contribution goes a long way to help.

The Sample Bag

The most fabulous piece of an upholstery sample showed up in my mailbox not so long ago.  All the way from upstate New York. 

This great old piece of fabric sample had some attached small samples of the same fabric, just different color ways.

I couldn't bear to waste the little pieces so I threw it all together in one big mismatched bag. 

I especially dig the recycled mismatched handles.

I've Got a New Tool for the Sewing Studio

I'm using it upstairs in the sewing studio, but I found it at Ace Hardware.

I love the Ace, especially the aisle with all the little drawers full of nuts, bolts, washers and who knows what.

It makes attaching handles to purses especially sturdy.  SWEET!
